Our survey will be open for another month through the whole of November. Our reps spoke with Management about London Weighting and they are still refusing to respect UCL staff’s request for them to negotiate with all three unions.
We say that an increase in all staff’s London Weighting is a PRIORTY, NEEDED & absolutely JUSTIFIED.

EIS have rejected the offer and are invoking the Dispute Resolution Procedure alongside UCU and Unite.
The first Dispute Resolution meeting will take place in early September with a second one mid-September. The two unions not in dispute (UNISON and GMB) are invited to attend the meetings as observers.
Employers will not be in a position to implement an award before this process is completed.
Trade unions’ responses to the final offer
UNISON members have voted to accept the offer by a significant majority of 72%.
The majority of members in all regions voted to accept the offer.
Total HEI’s included in consultation is 106 on an increased turnout from recent years.
The total figures are as follows:
Total to Reject: 1780 (28%)
Total to Accept: 4611 (72%)
The service group noted the clear majority and decided to accept the pay offer.
The GMB has also accepted, whilst other unions have rejected on varying percentages and turnouts, although none have voted for strike action. It is likely that some unions will seek to invoke the disputes procedure, to which UNISON will be invited to participate as an observer.
UCU’s Higher Education Committee (HEC) has decided that the ballot result is sufficient to record a rejection of the offer and UCU will ask for the New JNCHES dispute resolution procedure to be invoked. In their consultative ballot of UCU members, with a turnout of just under 32%, 53.5% voted to reject the offer. The consultative ballot also asked members to indicate their support for both strike action and action short of a strike (ASOS), making it clear that members would need to support both if the union was to pursue a dispute. 55.7% of their members voting indicated that they would be prepared to take ASOS. However, when asked about strike action 53% of the members voting said they would not be prepared to take strike action. For UCU’s ballot result in full see the UCU website.
UCU have indicated that they will organise regional meetings in September and their HEC will meet on 9 October to receive a report from these meetings and decide on a way forward.
Unite have advised that, following a branch consultation, they are rejecting the offer. There are no details at the present time on the number of branches who voted for or against the offer.
Following the UCL UNISON Annual General meeting on Wednesday 18th March, we are pleased to announce that of the contested roles Makeba Adero has been re-elected as Branch Secretary, Steve Marigotta as Branch Health and Safety Officer, Neal Carr as Branch Welfare Officer.
Votes for the candidates who stood for the role of Assistant Branch Secretary were tied and so the Branch Committee will decide whether to take this vote in the Committee or to re-run the election and send ballot papers out to members.

Following the merger of UCL and the Institute of Education (IOE) and in accordance with the UNISON rules which allow for just one Branch per employer, UCL UNISON and IOE UNISON Branches have now merged (as of January 2015).
